Gay Police Association
Gay Police AssociationDevon & Cornwall Constabulary Police Officers and Police Staff formed a self organised group in 2002 and adopted the aims objectives and constitution of the national group shortly after the renaming of the national organisation from LAGPA (Lesbian & Gay Police Association) to GPA (Gay Police Association).

Members of the Gay Police Association (GPA)The group meets regularly at locations throughout the force, outside of police premises so that members can discuss issues of concern and offer support to each other. The group is utilised by the force as a point of contact with gay officers in the force.
There are members of the group on various other groups and commitees such as the Local Criminal Justice Diversity Sub Group and the Force Race & Equality Board as well as having links with community groups like the Eddystone Trust, Plymouth Pride Forum and The Intercom Trust.

As well as formal meetings the group organises informal ‘drop in sessions’ where officers and police staff can meet in a more social environment in their own time.

www.pinkpasty.blogspot.com  - IPCC refer complaints about Cornwall Police   |11-06-2009
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) have finally (yesterday) following a barrage of questions through the Freedom of Information website (including from Lord McDowel) about numerous uninvestigated homophobic practises & attitudes of multiple Cornwall police officers since 2004, have now referred complaints to the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary Professional Standards Unit.

These numerous complaints from gay persons HAD previously been sent to Cornwall LGBT PACT, & to the GPA but were TOTALLY & COMPLETELY ignored (or filtered out by police officers involved?) undelining that gay police officers & those involved in GLBT groups are NOT to be trusted by the general GLBT community & are willing to cover up police abuses of GLBT persons abused & violated by Cornwall's deeply homophobic police force.

When the last of the homophobic Cornwall police officers we can identify, is drummed out of the Cornwall police force...then & only then might gay people become safe in Cornwall!

Homophobia...it is still an embedded & protected part of Cornwall police culture!

Perhaps now diversity officer PC Steve Cannon will STOP trying to get gay people to 'SHUT UP' about the police abuses they have experienced from his police mates!

I would write a factual observation about homophobic policing attitudes in Cornwall towards gay people, but it would only be removed.

Instead I'll just say, the Freedom of Information Act website has some interesting info & questions about the Cornwall police attitudes to GLBT persons!
